Welcome to the "Nounou' (it's our surname) family home!
The "Nounous" are Micha, Bacchus, and Audrey. Our story is quite unusual. In 2017, I left everything in my urban life in Lyon to go on an adventure in Arengosse, in the heart of the Landes region. If I had known what awaited me, I might have left sooner!
At the time, everyone around me thought I was crazy (except my little mom), thinking I'd end up alone in a huge house with a tribe of golden retrievers instead of cats.
I was (and still am) convinced that the world we live in is completely crazy and that offering an alternative that respects biodiversity and all things living is my mission.
Life placed two purebred Landes residents in my path, Micha and Bacchus (the two men in the photo).
The three of us, for seven years, loved the extraordinary experience of the Baccara Lodge guesthouse.
Micha now wants a change of scenery, and for me, managing 95% of a guesthouse and table d'hôtes alone has become complicated.
Selling this little paradise is out of the question, so the Baccara Lodge is becoming a group accommodation with a capacity of 15 people.

A place designed in permaculture?
We all imagine a bountiful vegetable garden when we hear the word permaculture. So yes, it's a gardening method, but not only that! Permaculture also means thinking about implementing a system that respects living things while integrating our lifestyle habits.
At Baccara Lodge, we use permaculture with the aim of minimizing our and your carbon footprint, but also to provide biodiversity with a refuge, a sanctuary.

Sharing resources with the Living
The carbon footprint, the loss of biodiversity, and the anticipation of climate change are all integral parts of eco-consciousness.
This is why we chose to design the Baccara Lodge in terms of permaculture.

Almost zero waste
The most wonderful waste is the one that doesn't exist!
Even if we wish for the extinction of Dame Ginette, the trash can, we realize that it remains complicated. Nevertheless, we're putting all our tips at your disposal for a nearly zero-waste vacation:
"Tuptups" and tote bags for bulk shopping,
washable makeup remover wipes in each of the eight bathrooms,
washable sponges, solid soap for cleaning,
local solid soaps in the showers,
a composter at the foot of the kitchen window (360° view, the very foundation of permaculture).

A group accommodation with 100% unique, 100% second-hand decor.
The idea is to prove that IKEA isn't a solution in and of itself.
The goal: to give objects a second life while keeping aesthetics in mind.
Because in the tourism industry, being "eco-responsible" doesn't just mean installing LED bulbs or sorting waste....
Here, we avoid bullshit to give ourselves a clear conscience.
